Summary

Provide a grant unlocking more resources for tailored and organic Marketing & Growth services for Shutter.

Introduction

During the pivotal Shutter DAOx36 launch and LBP phase, it is important to unlock further resources to sustain the fast-paced progress.

As a SHU token holder, I want to provide Marketing and Growth services to the Shutter community given my:

Shutter Familiarity: Previous and current close collaborations with the Shutter DAO 0x36 and Shutter community members. Proven Expertise: 6 years in Web3 Marketing and Growth, with a track record of expanding communities, increasing user bases, and boosting revenues. Strategic Approach: Initiatives designed to complement and enhance Shutter’s existing Marketing strategy, focusing on organic growth and engagement.

Web3 Portfolio

Growth Marketing Lead for Beamer Bridge and Raiden Network. Key results:

  • Built a growing community from scratch: 73K+ members, +/-5% MoM
  • About 80% of the tx volume generated through Marketing efforts
  • 11K+ UWA, $1M+ tx volume in under 8 weeks through Marketing campaign

Marketing & BD for LUKSO. Key results:

  • 150% community growth
  • Reduced incoming support requests by 60%
  • Established KPI tracking & reporting processes using GA among others

Goals

To support the Shutter community during this crucial time by providing organic, educational and engaging deliverables that complement existing internal and external Marketing strategies fostering growth and community participation.

Proposal

Strategic Initiatives covering:

  • An Educational Shutter Onboarding Program: Proven track record for general community growth and retention. A community onboarding program teaching web3 users about the importance of MEV protection, censorship resistance, etc while familiarising them with the Shutter protocol.
  • Write 1 PR article: Provide a strategic article that highlights Shutter’s MEV-related research topics.
  • 1 Execution Plan for Educational Co-Marketing Activities: Lay out a plan forl Co-Marketing efforts with Shutter partners via X (Twitter) Spaces which foster an environment of continuous learning and engagement.
  • 1 Website Improvement Review: Providing website improvement suggestions (e.g. FAQs, content reorganization, UI enhancements etc.) to make the Shutter website a more effective and engaging resource.
  • Support in Content Creation and Sharing in Relevant Communities.

Implementation Timeline of Deliverables

The proposal is based on an 8-week timeframe in close collaboration with the Shutter DAO 0x36 and individual community members to seamlessly align with Shutter’s goals. The efforts started already and are leading up to mid-March.

Initial Phase (Weeks 1-2):

  • Preliminary research on growth strategies for the Shutter community :white_check_mark:
  • Create 1 Educational Shutter Onboarding Program to welcome new members :white_check_mark:

Mid-Phase (Weeks 3-4):

  • Submit the Onboarding Program for community feedback and optimize it :white_check_mark:
  • Write and submit 1 PR article for publication⏳
  • Launch the Onboarding Program

Final Phase (Weeks 5-8):

  • Provide suggestions for website content edits to improve engagement
  • Provide 1 execution plan for educational X (Twitter) spaces around topics like MEV, Rollup modularity, DAO privacy, etc
  • Support by creating and sharing content across channels during the timeframe
  • Support on potential temporary follow-up tasks during the timeframe

Conclusion

This proposal offers a strategic blend of education, engagement, and growth initiatives tailored to Shutter’s current phase and future ambitions based on existing strategies.

Payment Terms

Shutter DAO 0x36 will issue two payments to @DBecane at the Ethereum Mainnet wallet address 0x2fAb8A8Eb6fF05A9DdB14042b55A7DC92ca84701. Given the project timeline of 8 weeks, there will be deliverables only, no milestones. As payments are made based on agreed deliverables, it is acknowledged that the work’s completion cannot be disputed.

  • Transaction 1: 150,000 SHU tokens (100% locked until 18 March 2024) upon approval of this proposal on Fractal
  • Transaction 2: 2,000 USDC within 30 days upon completion

In general I like the idea of doing something along those lines.

A couple of questions:

  • If the deliverables are not met within 8 weeks, then what? Who decides on this?
  • Will the 150k SHU be fully unlocked at 18th of March, or will it be vested like everyone else?

I will vote “NO” for this proposal. I think LBP activity is the thing that we need to focuse on. As far as we already hired markting advisory and other marketing thing. We should wait to see how LBP go and plan more on this after the LBP. By the way give away too many tokens out is a terrible idea.

Based on current price of SHU that is 37500 USD worth of token + 2000 USDC. It does sound a bit expensive for 8 weeks work?

Do you mind clarifying the vesting or perhaps re-price the compensation or extend the timeline ?

Thank you very much for your contribution so far. I greatly appreciate your support of Shutter’s growth. For transparency reasons, I think it would be beneficial to understand how your contributions so far (e.g. as mentioned in the proposal) and going forward are related to the Shutter Networks Early Contributor Program and the associated $SHU allocation.

Hi Han,

Be mindful that the price was determined pre-LBP - and at a lower price point than other marketing services proposed and a longer time frame. Keep in mind that the price of SHU will most likely drop considerably post-LBP.

The vesting period is the standard one, only 10% will be unlocked on March 18th and then linear unlock over the next 24 months. So there is a lot of time for price fluctuations and hopefully then stabilization.

Concerning the work done for Shutter, I have listed the main, core initiatives that I am working on/ delivered already. In the meantime, the work is becoming more visible to the community, since the strategic part (research, alignment, etc is done) . And since I posted on Fractal the positive traction is steadily growing despite the fact that there is only one tier of the onboarding program that is live so far. I expect a ripple effect over the next few days.

In just 4 days, the onboarding program increased the Twitter following by 600+ followers. We have 600+ unique participants and over 2K views of the Shutter page. We’re touching new audiences, hence attracting new community members that are spreading the word and generating increasing awareness for Shutter.

Be mindful that the price was determined pre-LBP - and at a lower price point than other marketing services proposed and a longer time frame. Keep in mind that the price of SHU will most likely drop considerably post-LBP.

At Kleros Labs we will support this initiative and vote FOR this proposal even if Shutter Network is more a B2B project.

We do believe it is a strength to have a large community involved as it could allow the project to have a broader reach in the space for future integration and growth. We appreciate the follow-up and involvement from @DBecane. The first steps done with Galxe are encouraging and appreciate the token vesting similar to genesis.

I agreed that the price of SHU would be fluctuating in that case would you consider to apply a discount of current market price.

This is not to say we disagree with spent on marketing or community effort, also we are very appreciated you took the initiative. But if a time travel deal is allowed, it is very unfair for LBP participants and bad precedent.

Also would like to clarify is the budget to pay Gaxies or you personally

I will vote “No” as well. The reasons have been already mentioned by other community members (momentum of the initiative, token price etc.). I generally support your initiative and I would love to have you on board! Can you tell us if you documented the results of the work you already did? I assume you are referring to Shutter Onboarding Program by Shutter | Galxe

From my point of view we should provide a grant linked to measurable results in marketing and growth service and taking the actual SHU price into account.

But do underline that, I think its highly important and also the duty of the shutter dao to create awareness of the importance of MEV protection as well as investing in shutter community growth for decentralizing purposes.

I’ll vote no. We should first adopt a barebone framework for requesting service providers before we choose anything.

As I mentioned in a comment at the DAO Vote thread regarding this proposal, the proposal author should consider their two options regarding this proposal.

As the proposal did not gather enough community sentiment and meet the required quorum, the author should either revise the proposal or abandon it.

If so chosen by the author, it would be recommended to gather more feedback from the community and then submit a revised proposal for the community to review, discuss, and provide feedback before moving to a vote again.

This thread can be used for further discussions and feedback, but the author should submit a new (revised) proposal if they so choose, as a new thread at the Forum.
