Brainbot Update for December 2025
Summary
December was a month of significant milestones:
Published EIP-8105 (Universal Enshrined Encrypted Mempool) and educational materials
Announced partnership with Primev to bring the first threshold encrypted mempool to PBS, Ethereum’s out-of-protocol transaction supply chain
Fixed issue with Keypers and created “down” alert bot
Priorities for T3 2025
Technology -
Stable encrypted mempools on Gnosis Chain,
POC with Primev or Commit-Boost of encrypted mempools on Ethereum L1,
Draft an EIP ref encrypted mempools on Ethereum L1,
Integrate Shutter API into dApps.
Business -
Stabilize the Keyper Sets,
Collect feedback on the EIP ref encrypted mempools on Ethereum L1; Identify future integrations of Shutter API into dApps.
MarComs -
Refactor communities,
Build support for encrypted mempools on Ethereum L1,
Experiment with SHU marketing.
Team
FTEs - Increase from 6.75 to 7.75 FTEs: 0.5 CEO, 0.5 Admin, 1.25 Business, 1 MarComs, 4.5 Developers.
Keypers
Keyper Sets - Gnosis Keypers: 7 Keypers online / 7 active (Threshold 4/7). API Keypers: 10 Keypers online / 9 active (9 external + 3 internal) (Threshold 5/9).
Keyper Releases - Published Keyper release v1.4.0, including the following highlights: event-based decryption conditions, enabling decryption to be triggered by on-chain events (beyond timestamps), and integration of the Primev PoC for threshold-encrypted mempools with mev-commit preconfirmations. Released the corresponding Docker Compose package for the Shutter API Keyper and worked on additional deployments, to follow.
Keyper Compensation Program - Tracked Keyper uptime and communications. Worked with all Keypers to update software and improve performance.
Encrypted Mempools
Ethereum Mainnet (POC) - Supporting builders (BTCS agreed to implement on their side already) with integration of the Primev x Shutter PoC, documentation, announcement and a demo DEX.
Ethereum Mainnet (EIPs) - Announced encrypted mempool EIP and accompanying material publicly, received feedback from multiple interested core developers and researchers, including Vitalik.
Gnosis Chain: Testing Erigon v3.1 which includes Shutter support on Gnosis Chain. We’re seeing 100% inclusion rate on Chiado, testing on mainnet still showing inclusion issues, but needs further testing.
Shutter API
Private Voting - Started working with a city government/administration to deploy a private voting PoC using Shutter and open source technology for an election for a staff council election. More will be announced soon.
Event-Based Decryption Triggers - Finalized the PR to release event-based decryption trigger functionality on Shutter API Chiado (PR pending review). Preparing mainnet release, first demo use cases and supporting external partners such as Kleros to use this feature.
Kleros - Continuing to support Kleros in integrating Shutter API into Kleros V2. They released a beta version of the Shutter integration, with a full release scheduled for January.
Security/Debugging - Fully resolved the issue in the cryptography/keyper client which caused partial downtime for parts of the API pipeline. Published a post mortem.
Cryptography Research
Research Grant - Continued work on the government research grant application together with TU Darmstadt and PolyCrypt.
Research Post - Released an ETHResearch post regarding our Encrypted Mempool for Ethereum L1.
Partner / Developer Support
State of Private Voting Report Updates
-
more categorizations such as quantum resistance, open-source classification, programmability
-
Interviews with DAO delegates and tooling platforms for upcoming part 2 of report
Keyper Compensation Program - Provided observations/recommendations for Keyper performance in December 2025.
Encrypted Mempools on Ethereum L1 - Continued researching people involved in the EIP process and decision-making - esp core devs and transaction supply chain actors.
Octant v2 - Supported Octant in implementing the security multisig, and creating test transactions for the community growth program approved in an earlier Temp Check vote.
