Summary
June marked significant steps forward for both encrypted mempools and the Shutter API. Two highlights:
-
We see broad and growing support for encrypted mempools on Ethereum Mainnet - at the Ethereum Foundation and among transaction supply chain actors. PSE team from the EF raised two opportunities: 1) assigning a coordinator for encrypted mempools on Ethereum Mainnet, and 2) hosting an invite-only round table for transaction supply chain actors at DevConnect. Either or both of these initiatives would dramatically move encrypted mempools on Ethereum Mainnet forward.
-
We launched the Ethereum Time Capsule during EthCC[8], in collaboration with EthCC and Protocol Guild. The Ethereum Time Capsule celebrates Ethereum’s 10th anniversary, by letting everyone create time capsule entries - privately sealed now, revealed one year later, and immutably recorded onchain forever. Create and share your time capsule entries at http://ethtimecapsule.com/. Our press release on Ethereum Time Capsule earned 25+ organic media articles on 30 June (and more in July).

Keypers
Keyper Sets - Gnosis Keypers: 6 Keypers active / 1 Keyper not showing in metrics
(Threshold 4/7). API Keypers: 7 Keypers active (4 external + 3 internal) (Threshold 5/11).
Packages - Released new packages for both Gnosis Keypers (Docker, DAppNode) and Shutter API Keypers (Docker, DAppNode) including the following upgrades: Fix validator registration, enable HTTP endpoints for API fallback mechanism, enable configurable node urls and log collection. Worked on improved Keyper metrics: [Issue 599, PR 607, PR 606].
Encrypted Mempools
Gnosis Chain - We’re making new Keyper releases to improve stability and we’re supporting Nethermind and Erigon in improving the system from their end. We continued supporting Keypers in operating and recovering their nodes.
Ethereum Mainnet - Specified and started development work on our encrypted mempool integration PoC for Primev/MEV-Commit. Discussed two opportunities with the Privacy and Scaling Explorations (PSE) team from the Ethereum Foundation (EF): 1) assigning a coordinator for encrypted mempools on Ethereum Mainnet, and 2) hosting an invite-only roundtable for transaction supply chain actors at DevConnect.
BNB Chain - Engaged with CZ and other members of the BNB community; raised awareness for our Binance Evolution Proposal (BEP).
Shutter API
Shutter API Keyper: Released new packages for Shutter API Keypers (Docker, DAppNode)
Shutter SDK: Released new Shutter SDK package with improved browser compatibility and documentation.
Kleros - Continuing to support Kleros in integrating Shutter API into Kleros V2, the release of this integration is imminent.
Paddle Battle - Launched King of the Pot: Round 1. Supported GM in building sealed bid auctions on Paddle Battle.
Ethereum Time Capsule - Launched Time Capsule dApp during EthCC to celebrate Ethereum 10th Anniversary, which will collect encrypted stories 30 June - 30 July 2025 and decrypt them on 30 July 2026.
Cryptography Research
Research Posts - Prepared a post on everlasting private voting (votes remain private after results are revealed) from linearly homomorphic threshold encryption. Publication planned for July.
Collaboration with PSE / EF - Continued discussion with the Privacy and Scaling Explorations (PSE) team from the Ethereum Foundation (EF) regarding collaboration on several privacy-related topics such as on-chain shielded voting and encrypted mempools for Ethereum mainnet.
Novel Cryptographic Primitives - Evaluated novel cryptographic primitives (threshold verifiable random function, threshold BLS, threshold additively homomorphic encryption, proxy re-encryption) which could extend Shutter functionality - based on urgency and estimated implementation effort.
Developer Support
SAFE on Base - Supported Blockful in setting up a SAFE on Base controlled by Shutter DAO 0x36 on Mainnet via oSnap.
MarComs

Requests
Ethereum Time Capsule - Create your time capsule entries at http://ethtimecapsule.com/, and then share them via social media. Encourage your friends / colleagues / communities to create their own entries. Help make this the meme / zeitgeist of the month.
Community Participation - We have noticed that community participation has been down recently. We understand that many people are on summer holiday, attending conferences, focused on their day jobs, etc. Promoting Shutter on social media, making introductions to potential partners, participating in discussions on the Shutter Forum, and voting on Shutter DAO 0x36 proposals are all low effort / high impact community activities.
Keypers - We would like to have direct communication with all Keypers. If you have not been in direct contact with me in the past couple months, please get in touch with me here (DM on the Shutter Forum), Telegram or email.
