Shutter DAO 0x36 Impact Pilot Program - Pitch Day

Purpose

Shutter Grant Pitch Day gives eligible grant applicants an opportunity to present their submitted application directly to the Shutter DAO community before the grant-selection vote. It is intended to strengthen transparency and diligence by giving delegates and community members a direct view of each team, its proposed work, and its ability to deliver.

Pitch Day is informational only. It is not a selection meeting, does not create grant commitments, and does not replace the DAO vote. Grant recipients will be selected through the subsequent DAO vote.

Event Details

  • Date: TBD (Vote on poll below for October 28th or October 29th)

  • Time: 11:00 AM EDT

  • Format: Live Zoom session

  • Structure: Applicants will be grouped by grant track.

  • Recording: The session will be recorded and shared ahead of the DAO vote.

If applicant volume cannot be accommodated in one session, an additional Pitch Day session will be scheduled.

Eligibility and Participation

  • Pitch Day is open to applicants with an existing Shutter grant application.

  • Presenting is optional and is not a condition of grant eligibility.

  • Applicants that do not present remain eligible for consideration in the DAO vote.

  • A project may nominate one representative to present on its behalf.

Presentation Format

Each presenting applicant will receive:

  • 5 minutes for its presentation

  • 5 minutes for open Q&A

To keep the event fair and useful for all participants, time limits will be enforced. Presenters should join the Zoom room at least 10 minutes before their scheduled slot.

Presentations may use a short slide deck, but decks are optional and do not need to be submitted in advance.

What to Cover

Presentations should focus on the contents of the submitted grant application, including:

  1. The problem or opportunity the project addresses

  2. The proposed solution and why it is relevant to Shutter

  3. The team and its ability to execute

  4. Proposed milestones, timeline, and budget

  5. The measurable impact or outcomes the grant is expected to produce

A strong pitch makes it easy for the DAO to assess whether the application demonstrates:

  • A real counterpart and validated need: a named decision-maker, operating owner, funder, partner, or beneficiary group—or a substantiated route to identify one—plus a concrete Shutter need, opportunity, or gap supported by a credible demand signal.
  • A credible value pathway: how the work advances direct/protocol revenue, a paid or co-funded deployment, a validated route to a pilot/integration/repeatable workflow, or durable ecosystem value aligned with Shutter’s mission.
  • A Shutter-specific and decision-enabling contribution: the relevant Shutter product, service, deployment, or capability; a concrete deliverable; and the decision, implementation step, or next action it will enable.
  • A reviewable path to completion: a proportionate milestone for DAO review before the second 50% payment, and public or reviewable evidence beyond outreach, general interest, or a speculative concept.
  • Clear disclosures: relevant prior compensation, related paid scope, and financial, professional, or organizational conflicts.

Q&A

Q&A is open to anyone attending the Zoom call. Questions should be concise, relevant to the application, and directed toward helping the DAO assess strategic fit, execution risk, milestones, budget, and expected impact.

The moderator may group similar questions, prioritize unanswered material issues, or move discussion offline when needed to maintain the schedule.

Changes to Applications

Pitch Day presentations should reflect the application submitted for grant consideration.

If an applicant has made a material change to its proposal—including a change to scope, budget, milestones, timeline, or team—it must clearly disclose that change during the presentation and update its public application or proposal materials before the DAO vote.

Applicants should not use Pitch Day to introduce an undisclosed, substantially different grant request.

After Pitch Day

Following the event:

  • The Pitch Day recording will be published for delegate and community review.

  • Applicants are responsible for ensuring that any material updates to their application are publicly documented.

  • The DAO will proceed to the grant-selection vote the following week.

Delegates should evaluate applicants based on the full public record: the written application, the Pitch Day presentation and Q&A, any disclosed updates, and the project’s demonstrated ability to deliver.

Conduct

Please keep discussion constructive, professional, and focused on the merits of each proposal. Pitch Day is designed to support informed DAO decision-making—not to pre-commit votes or make informal funding decisions.

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!

We’re moving forward with October 28 at 11:00 AM EDT for the Shutter DAO 0x36 Impact Pilot Pitch Day! The event will be livestreamed on the Shutter X account. Applicants who would like to pitch their proposals live will receive a Riverside link to join the video stream. Please join 10 minutes early if possible so we can test your audio and video.

To help applicants explain the expected value of their proposal, consider starting with the change you want your work to help produce — the longer-term impact — and then work backwards.

For the pitch, applicants may find it useful to answer four questions:

  1. What change are you trying to enable, and for whom?
  2. What will you deliver that helps create that change?
  3. Why is that a credible pathway to a Shutter-relevant outcome?
  4. What evidence could the DAO review to show progress beyond activity or publication alone?

A small grant is not expected to independently prove broad ecosystem-level impact. However, applicants should be able to explain how their proposed work contributes to a specific, plausible outcome and what would indicate that the work moved that opportunity forward.

For reference, see the Kellogg Logic Model which distinguishes between activities, outputs, outcomes, and impact:

Thank you!

Thanks! I can’t join live on 28 October, so I’ve posted a written pitch in my thread: [Shutter DAO 0x36 Impact Pilot Program Round 1 - Proactive Grant] Shielded voting in practice: evidence from Arbitrum DAO and a pilot proposal for its elections . Happy to answer any questions there before the vote.

Thanks @SEEDGov. Something urgent came up and I’m travelling today, so I can’t present live. I’ve posted a written pitch in my thread instead: [Shutter DAO 0x36 Impact Pilot Program Round 1 - Proactive Grant] Shielded Voting Evidence Pack: ENS scope proposal, Arbitrum brief, and fee-structure inputs. Happy to answer questions there before the vote.

Hi @SEEDGov, Fracton will pitch live today (Objective 3, Concorde use case). Could you let me know where the Riverside link was sent? I haven’t found it in my forum messages or email yet. If it hasn’t gone out, please send it to me via forum DM. I plan to join 10 minutes early for the audio/video check, and even if I get the link late, I’ll do my best to join and present within the session. Thanks!

@Fracton & others :slight_smile:

Thanks for hosting today. The audio of my pre-recorded pitch did not come through on the stream, so I have posted the full pitch with sound and a written version in my application thread: [Shutter DAO 0x36 Impact Pilot Program Round 1 - Proactive Grant] Shielded jury assessments for Deep Funding: qualifying a private-voting deployment where juror scores resolve live prediction markets

Thank you @SEEDGov and everyone at Pitch Day. Since time was short, here is the part I skipped, plus our timeline update to match the new program dates. Scope and request are unchanged ($1,500).

Pilot: our weekly decision check on Concorde — the agent drafts each outcome, members confirm, the agent signs the record. 4+ weeks, all 5 members, no client data.

- 30 November 2026 (before the second 50% payment): Concorde instance live with Fracton members, at least 10 signed decisions verifiable without a Fracton account, interim capability matrix posted here, first capability-gap issues filed, and interviews with three cross-border teams summarized here.

- 21 December 2026 (final delivery): public assessment, capability-gap issues, external pilot shortlist, and Fracton’s adopt / not-adopt decision with reasoning.

Budget: assessment & issues $700 · pilot operation $500 · interviews $300. Infrastructure, LLM costs and additional time are covered by Fracton.
