Authors: Georg_Greenfield & Greenfield Labs
tl;dr
- Request to restore Greenfield Labs’ unclaimed genesis allocation of 909,090.9091 SHU tokens (original allocation)
- Allocation was missed due to communication challenges, not lack of commitment
- Greenfield Labs has been actively preparing infrastructure for Keyper node operation since project inception (Keyper application)
MOTIVATION
The primary motivation for this proposal stems from several key factors:
- Greenfield Labs has been an active contributor to the Shutter ecosystem since day one
- The missed allocation deadline was due to communication challenges rather than lack of commitment
- There is a need to maintain the intended distribution of network participants for optimal security
- The restoration supports the network’s decentralization by enabling participation in the second Keypers set
SPECIFICATION
The proposal requests:
- Restoration of the original allocation of 909,090.9091 SHU tokens to Greenfield Labs
- Implementation through smart contract interaction to reinstate the allocation
- No additional code changes required
- Timeline: Immediate implementation upon approval
- No additional budget required beyond the original allocation
RATIONALE
This solution is proposed because:
- It maintains the original intended token distribution
- Supports network security through increased Keyper participation
- Preserves the relationship with a committed early contributor
- Aligns with the project’s goals of building a robust and decentralized network
- Demonstrates the DAO’s ability to address exceptional circumstances fairly
NEXT STEPS
- DAO vote on the proposal
- If approved, technical implementation of allocation restoration
- Greenfield Labs to proceed with its Keyper node setup
CONCLUSION
Restoring Greenfield Labs’ allocation supports the network’s security and decentralization goals while maintaining relationships with committed contributors. This resolution demonstrates the DAO’s ability to address exceptional circumstances while maintaining protocol integrity.
IMPLEMENTATION
Initiate a simple transfer of Shutter Tokens from the DAO treasury to Greenfield Labs.

sorry guys but it is not possible.
Hey @acidbird, thanks for the reply. Can you clarify of what exactly is not possible?
revisiting the distribution, the window is closed long ago unfortunately.
Thank you for your perspective on the claiming deadline. While we understand your concern, I’d like to emphasize that our commitment to the Shutter ecosystem has been unwavering since day one. We’ve consistently demonstrated our dedication through active contribution to the network’s development. Our team has the technical expertise and infrastructure ready to serve as a reliable Keyper, and we believe the network would benefit from having additional committed Keypers strengthening its security and decentralization. We’re eager to prove our value through continued contribution to the ecosystem.
Sorry but the window has been closed for way too long to justify something like this. I’ve been there and it sucks though.
I’m a bit torn about this. One one site I would like you guys to have your allocation, but on the other side there were clear rules set for how to claim it and a long claiming period. Especially in blockchain systems, you define rules and they are immutable.
I also don’t like that your proposal pay out the full 909k tokens, when the rest of us still have a long vesting period left. It would basically put you in an advantageous and unfair position over those of us who actually claimed in time and followed the rules.
Can you provide some examples of your contributions to the project so far?
Edit:
I’m learning towards no, because I think the fact that you request to get your full allocation ahead of all the people and projects that actually claimed their tokens in time. If you can come up with a more fair way of getting your allocation then I’d be willing to reconsider. I’m thinking something like a discount in the amount and the amount vested until now (maybe minus the 10% initial unlock) and then get your remaining tokens when the vestin is fully over.

Hey @czepluch, I highly appreciate your comment. Here is a list of our contributions to Shutter so far:
- For the past 12 months, we have been running and testing the Keyper node containers
- We have provided feedback to the Shutter dev team about the setup
- We are on standby for the official 2nd Keyper set to begin, ready to transition from test to active node
Thank you also for bringing the vesting to our attention. We agree that it is only fair for us to have the same vesting conditions as all other Keypers under the Genesis allocation. We see two potential ways forward:
- If the current proposal is accepted and the tokens are transferred to us, we give the community our word that we will honor the same vesting conditions as under the Genesis Keyper allocation, starting from the execution of the proposal.
or
- If the proposal is not accepted, we can re-engage with the DAO to discuss resubmitting the proposal with vesting conditions included in the executable code, provided it is likely to reach quorum.
We hope this addresses your concerns and are happy to further discuss any points of interest. We understand and appreciate your feedback should you choose to vote no on the proposal.
Sounds good. Thank for the reply. Out of principle I will go with “don’t trust, verify” and hence I voted “no”. I am very open to a new proposal that distributes the tokens to Greenfield in a way more aligned with the rest of us.
