GM everyone!
Based on feedback received on the original slate post (thanks everyone), we’re updating the slate to include two bounties to kickstart the Shutter PEN → deployment + frontend. These additions push the slate to the full $10K cap and add a long-term funding layer alongside the content and ecosystem push.
Since we can’t edit the original post at this point, we’re posting the full updated slate below as a comment. Please treat this version as the canonical one going forward.
As always, feedback and questions are more than welcome ![]()

Slate Title
- Spreading Shutter’s voice and kickstarting Shutter PEN
Slate Summary
- Fund three Ethereum-native teams to push Shutter into the wider Ethereum conversation through daily editorial coverage, cultural translation of the tech, and ecosystem positioning at one of the year’s most relevant privacy gatherings, plus kickstart Shutter PEN with deployment and frontend bounties.
Slate Description
- Melee 2 asks one question: what’s the best way to advance Shutter with $10,000? Our answer is distribution, and a push to get the Shutter Perpetual Endowment Network** (**PEN) live. Shutter’s tech is moving fast, EIPs, threshold-encrypted mempool work, private voting, but tech only advances a project as far as the audience that understands it, and as far as the tools available to use it. This slate puts the funding behind three Ethereum-native teams who, between them, cover the full stack of how ideas travel in this ecosystem: daily editorial coverage that reaches builders and researchers (ETH Daily), cultural translation that turns complex infra into content people actually share (Book of Ethereum), and ecosystem positioning inside the privacy movement itself through event presence and narrative work (Web3Privacy Now). On top of that, we’re including two bounties to kickstart Shutter PEN, deployment and frontend, so Shutter has a long-term, member-governed funding layer in place alongside the narrative push. The following are some details on what these teams are and how they plan to contribute to Melee 2’s goals.
- ETH Daily -> ETH Daily runs a daily Ethereum news briefing across podcast (7,000 subscribers), newsletter (3,700 subscribers), and social. They’ve already proven they cover Shutter on merit, EIP-8105, the threshold-encrypted mempool, the permanent private voting PoC, X Spaces, and recurring posts across X and Farcaster. Their value isn’t hype; it’s editorial credibility inside the Ethereum world. This slate funds a forward-looking commitment: continued coverage of Shutter’s upcoming milestones, new EIPs, integrations, and governance moments across podcast, newsletter, and social through the rest of 2026. As mempool encryption moves into core protocol conversations, ETH Daily keeps Shutter visible to the audience that matters most.
- Book of Ethereum (BOOE) → They work at the cultural and educational layer of Ethereum. Where ETH Daily reports, BOOE translates, turning encryption, fair ordering, and threshold cryptography into content the average Ethereum user actually understands and shares. Their reach converts: 4.9M impressions, 426.2K engagements, an 8.5% engagement rate, and 47.2K reposts on recent activity. This slate funds future output dedicated to Shutter → a sustained content stream on X, community discussions on Telegram and Spaces, and structured onboarding pieces to close the gap between “the tech exists” and “people get why it matters.”
- Web3Privacy Now → Web3Privacy Now works as a coordination layer across the privacy ecosystem, running the Privacy Explorer, producing educational content, and convening builders and researchers through events. They’ve already integrated Shutter into their stack: a feature in the Privacy Explorer, educational video content alongside Loring (brainbot), and inclusion across their ecosystem mappings and programming. This slate funds their upcoming Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress in Mumbai 2026, where Shutter is set to be embedded into a curated gathering of cypherpunks, privacy researchers, and builders. Their proposal is concrete: speaker presence (Loring is already confirmed), Shutter inclusion in Congress visuals and web presence, direct exposure to a high-signal audience, and post-event content distribution. Strategically, this positions encrypted mempools not as a standalone product but as a core primitive of the broader privacy stack, exactly the framing Shutter needs as the EIP track progresses.
- Kickstart Shutter PEN → Alongside the content and ecosystem push, this slate includes two bounties to get Shutter PEN off the ground: $250 to deploy Shutter PEN, and $750 to build a Shutter PEN frontend (SEAT sales/refunds, dashboard) and host it, or pin it on IPFS, for 12 months. For context, PEN is a permissionless, member-governed on-chain endowment designed to fund Shutter perpetually through yield, not principal, a long-term funding layer that complements one-off rounds like Melee. Getting it deployed and giving members a clean frontend to buy SEATs and track health indicators is the foundation that everything else builds on. Distribution and ecosystem reach pull people towards Shutter; PEN gives the value-aligned ones a way to commit and stay.
